Pixar Pier : Disney California Adventure Park

Pixar Pier is your one stop shop for Disney Pixar fun, food and more. Located in Disney California Adventure Park, Pixar Pier recently opened up some new attractions you won’t want to miss. You may already know that Pixar Pier is set up as four distinct neighborhoods, and Disney keeps adding to the fun! My friends at Get Away Today have teamed up with me on this list of what’s happening at Pixar Pier in 2019.

Pixar Pier in Disney California Adventure Park

Find attractions modeled after your favorite Pixar movies here in Pixar Pier. Whether it’s a game, a roller coaster or a treat, it’s sure to delight guests of all ages. Here are all the details about Pixar Pier from myself and the travel experts at Get Away Today.

Pixar Pier - Coming Attractions

One of the “neighborhoods” in Pixar Pier is Inside Out themed. While the other three are pretty much up and running (Incredibles Park, Toy Story Boardwalk and Pixar Promenade), the Inside Out neighborhood is still growing. Keep reading to see what two new attractions are making their way to the Pier in 2019.

Inside Out Headquarters

Not much is known yet about the new Inside Out Headquarters, but it will be located at the western end of Pixar Pier. It’s described as a playground of emotions, and we know it will include a “whimsical” family friendly attraction called Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind. From what Disney has released, this is going to be a colorful ride that puts guests in miniature hot air balloons for an emotional roller coaster (get it?!). The new Emotional Whirlwind ride will more closely resemble a ride like Silly Symphony Swings and not an actual roller coaster, though. This will hopefully mean it is accessible to smaller riders, making it a great stop for families with small children.

Bo Peep

In summer 2019, Disney will be bringing a special guest to Disney California Adventure Park- Bo Peep! Perhaps on a quest for her lost sheep, she’ll be available to meet guests in Pixar Pier in anticipation of the release of the Toy Story 4 movie.

Pixar Pier - Existing Attractions

Jessie’s Critter Carousel

Brand new in Pixar Pier this spring, Jessie’s Critter Carousel is another attraction with no height requirements. Guests of all ages can hop aboard a cute critter inspired by Woody’s Roundup from Toy Story 2. Aboard Jessie’s Critter Carousel you’ll be the rootin-est tootin-est cowboy in the wild, wild west! This attraction is included in Extra Magic Hour, which is a perk only available to guests staying in one of the three Disneyland Resort hotels.

The Incredicoaster

For guests 48” and taller, the Incredicoaster is a thrilling ride around the water’s edge in Pixar Pier. You’ll be on the hunt for baby Jack-Jack as he darts through tunnels and teleports just out of reach. This is a ride with lots of drops and effects that dazzle the senses. It is one of the attractions in Disney California Adventure Park that operates during Extra Magic Hour. Remember, Extra Magic Hour is only available to guests of a Disneyland Resort Hotel and it is the only way to get into Disney California Adventure before the park opens to the general public.

Pixar Pal-A-Round - Swinging

This ride is open to riders of all heights and ages! It provides a sweeping view of the whole Pier and beyond. You might find yourself in a gondola on the ferris wheel that features Toy Story, Cars, Finding Nemo or Inside Out characters. Not all the gondolas on Pixar Pal-A-Round are stationary; you can choose to sway and slide throughout the ride, or hop into one that stays fixed.

Games of Pixar Pier

There are four carnival games at the Pier, and to play you purchase credits at designated kiosks. Fun for all ages, try to catch a star in the La Luna game Star Catcher. Feed the hungry caterpillar from A Bug’s Life at Heimlich’s Candy Corn Toss, or perhaps you would like to play a Skee-Ball inspired game with Bullseye from Toy Story 2 at Bullseye Stallion Stampede. You can also send WALL-E and Eve into space with Space Race. It’s great to have a number of attractions that do not have height restrictions so all guests can enjoy them!

Toy Story Midway Mania

If you can’t get enough Toy Story, then you’ve come to the right place! Pixar Pier is definitely excited about the upcoming release of Toy Story 4, and Midway Mania is yet another way to celebrate. In this 3D attraction, guests will feel like part of the story in this virtual trip through Andy’s room. Help zap moving objects with virtual darts, baseballs and more. This attraction is open to all ages, and is included in Extra Magic Hour, which is a perk only available to guests staying in a Disneyland Resort Hotel.

Pixar Pier - Food

Señor Buzz Churros
(not gluten free)

Remember when the Spanish switch for Buzz was turned to “ON?” Señor Buzz Churros is a nod to that event from the Toy Story franchise. These churros have a little Spanish flair, and you can choose between Caliente and Cinnamon Super Galaxy flavors. Coca-Cola beverages are also sold here.

Angry Dogs
(not sure if gluten free option is available)

You’ll channel your inner feelings at this food cart in Pixar Pier. Angry from Inside Out serves up spicy and not-so-spicy hotdogs with a side of fries or chips. Choose to load on the toppings or enjoy one plain.

Lamplight Louge
(reservations recommended)

Located at the entrance of Pixar Pier.  This restaurant has been reimagined to take you on a journey through the mind of Pixar Artists.  This is a sit-down delectable dining experience with incredible Panoramic views of Paradise Bay.  Gluten Free menu available.

Pixar Pier - Shopping

Knick’s Knacks

At this shop in Pixar Pier you will find Disney Pixar branded merchandise for the whole family. From apparel to toys, beauty accessories to plush characters, it’s a great spot to visit for a souvenir. You can also purchase ready-made art, or have an artist create something for you on the spot.

Bing Bong’s Sweet Stuff

This is another option for merchandise in Pixar Pier. You can purchase apparel, accessories, toys and games at Bing Bong’s Sweet Stuff. You can also find sweet treats, home decor and athletic equipment like baseballs and basketballs. Bing Bong’s just opened in 2018, and this year will feature the popular Briar Rose Gold sweets everyone is craving. At Bing Bong’s you can find the Briar Rose Gold Cake Pop, so stop by next time you’re at the Pier.

Hopefully this roundup of Pixar Pier attractions helps you plan your next visit to Disney California Adventure! If you want access to the park before regular hours, remember you can only do so if you stay at one of the three Disneyland Resort hotels. Included with your stay at Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel, the Disneyland Hotel or Disney’s Grand Californian Adventure Resort & Spa is Extra Magic Hour, which grants early Park admission. You can book those hotels through my friends at Get Away Today, either online at www.getawaytoday.com or by calling 855-GET-AWAY. They have the best deals on the Disneyland Resort hotels, as well as many other hotels near Disneyland.
