The first pressed penny machine at Disneyland was available when the park opened in 1955. Since then, pressed penny machines have become a popular and beloved tradition for visitors to Disneyland and other Disney parks. They offer an affordable and unique way to take home a small piece of Disney magic and commemorate a visit to the park. The popularity of these coins inspired Disney to expand its offerings of collectible coins and tokens over the years, including the Disney 100 Medallion Coins collection.

Where to Find Souvenir Medallions

The souvenir Medallion Coin machines made their debut at Disneyland in March 2022, located at the Pieces of Eight store near the Pirates of Caribbean attraction. Each machine features 4 collectible souvenirs available for purchase, with the option to buy all 4 coins for $15, or purchase each individually for $5. The machines were a hit among visitors and by fall of 2022, they were available at multiple locations within Disneyland and one location in Downtown Disney. To keep things fresh, the designs offered in the machines are occasionally swapped out for new ones. These souvenir medallions can be purchased with cash, credit, or Apple Pay. Click here for a comprehensive list of 2022 designs.

Where to find Disney 100 Medallions

In January 2023, to kick off the Disney 100 Years of Wonder celebration, Disneyland introduced new medallion coin machines featuring a whole new set of designs created specifically for the occasion. To make the coins even more accessible to guests, the number of locations was also expanded to include all 3 Disneyland resort hotels and the Downtown Disney District. Each machine still offers 4 unique collectible coins for purchase, with the option to buy all 4 coins for $20 or each individual coin for $6. The coins can be purchased with cash, credit, or Apple Pay, making them a convenient and memorable keepsake of your Disney experience. Click here for a comprehensive design list.

Keep Track of your Coin Collection

I utilize an app called Pressed Coins 4 DLR, which is a paid app (priced at a few dollars). This app provides information on the locations of the pressing machines in the parks, and also allows me to keep track of my collection. I use a booklet to store my pressed pennies after I have collected them all. For the medallion coins, I place them in a 2 x 2 square with a clear window on each side and store them in this booklet.

I stumbled upon a Facebook group named "Disney Coin Pressers." This group is overflowing with supportive Disney coin enthusiasts who consistently share updates on the coin machines, along with advice and strategies for all levels of coin collectors.

In conclusion, the Disney Medallion Coins offer a unique and special way to commemorate your visit to Disneyland and celebrate the magic of Disney. With new designs and expanded locations, collecting these coins has never been easier or more accessible. Don't miss out on this opportunity to bring a little piece of Disney magic into your life and make memories that will last a lifetime.
