Did you know most of the candy at Oogie Boogie Bash is gluten free? I’ll show you what’s safe, what isn’t, and how I walked away with over 3 pounds of gluten-free treats.
My Oogie Boogie Bash Candy Haul
Don’t skip the treat trails—most of the candy is gluten free (I’ll show you what isn’t). Each trail also has a tiny allergy-friendly box option, but honestly, if you can eat the regular candy, I don’t recommend choosing those since you’ll get way less.
🎃 My totals:
- Gluten-free candy: over 3 lbs
- Gluten candy: just under 2.5 lbs
The candy I can’t eat will go to my gluten-eating friends and family, or I’ll hand it out on Halloween.
Dinner Before the Party
Eating before Oogie Boogie Bash is a game-changer, especially if you’re gluten free. My biggest tip: mobile order from the allergy menu in advance. This saves you time, keeps your energy up, and helps you avoid walking extra miles just to find food.
I recommend ordering dinner near where you plan to start your night so you can head right into the party after eating. For us, that meant Flo’s V8 Café. I mobile ordered the gluten-free pastrami sandwich with a pick-up window between 5:15–5:30 p.m.—perfect timing to enjoy dinner without feeling rushed before the fun began.
How Many Treat Trails We Did
We managed to hit every trail once—except Syndrome at Pixar Pier, which had a super long line. Along the way, we rode a few attractions and watched the first parade by Little Mermaid.
Don’t Forget the Frightfully Fun Parade
Normally, I watch the second parade show near Animation Academy, but this year we happened to be by Little Mermaid just before the first show, so we pivoted. You don’t need to get there hours in advance for a good spot—typically 15–20 minutes before the parade anywhere along the route is enough to see the show. It’s a fun way to take a break from the trails while still enjoying the Halloween magic!
Candy First, Photos Later: What We Skipped
We skipped Villains Grove—not because of the line (it was short!) but simply because we didn’t feel like walking it. We also skipped the character photo ops since they weren’t important to us. That said, there are still plenty of characters along the treat trails to interact with, so you won’t miss out on those fun encounters.
✨ Pro Tip: Stay flexible! You won’t be able to do everything, and you will get tired.
Why We Left Early
Even though the party runs late, we actually left around 10 p.m. because we were exhausted. I don’t recommend going to the parks earlier that same day—despite taking a 4-hour rest, it still wiped us out.
My Oogie Boogie Bash Game Plan (Route)
Here’s the route I used to maximize treat trails without too much backtracking:
- Start in Cars Land
- Work through San Fransokyo to Pixar Pier
- Loop around by Little Mermaid
- Head left toward Grizzly River Run and Buena Vista Street
- Cut through Avengers Campus into Hollywood Land
- Finish with the last two trails at Animation Academy
Final Thoughts
Oogie Boogie Bash is such a fun way to celebrate Halloween at Disneyland—and the best part is that most of the candy really is gluten free. With a little planning (like mobile ordering dinner in advance and choosing your treat trail route), you can enjoy the night without stressing about food. Remember to stay flexible, pace yourself, and focus on making memories—because at the end of the night, it’s not just about the candy haul, it’s about the experience. 🎃✨
