Disclosure: This post is hosted by the Sacramento County Fair. I am receiving complimentary admission to the event in exchange for participating on the blogger team.
The Sacramento County Fair hosted a special preview night for the media before the fair opened to the public. In the past I have been to a few other unofficial media nights but this was my first official media night as a blogger.
I was not asked to write about this event but I wanted to share my media night experience with you. This was a very organized event to give us a small sampling of what the fair has to offer. I met so many new people I can't even remember all of their names (I wish I had asked for business cards so I could connect with some of the local bloggers later). Most of the people in the group were bloggers or news print reporters. There was a couple of bloggers there who have been following me on social media and it was nice to get a chance to meet them in person.

Our night started off with a train ride from the front entrance to our first item on our schedule, food tasting. There was so many food items they had us taste and then we were to vote on our favorites. Some of the categories were Best new food item, Best item on a Stick, Best Savory item and Best dessert. I wasn't able to try everything due to my dietary restrictions but I did get a chance to taste some yummy Pad Thai, Elote (mexican corn dish) and a lemon fudge. I'm guessing these things might be gluten free but I didn't verify that so you will need to inquire before eating.
After the food we had a strict schedule to follow as a group. We went to visit the All Alaskan Racing Pigs. They did a live show presentation for us of these little piggies racing around a race track. It was the cutest thing ever. After the race was over we hopped aboard the train for our next stop the petting barn. So many baby goats and cows to visit with.
After the animals we got back on the train to our next stop the performers. We got to see "Capt'n Jack Spare Ribs" not to be confused with Capt'n Jack Sparrow. He was hilarious with his short stand up show with his "dummy" that had us all laughing. He also did some juggling tricks for us too. Check my Facebook page for a live video of our show.
Next up was a quick stop in the circus tent with the Ramos Bros Circus. We were given a demonstration of two motorcycle riders riding around inside this giant circle sphere. The giant sphere was big but certainly didn't look big enough for 2 motorcycles riding around and around. It was amazing to get to watch that up close. We didn't get a chance to see the other performers in the circus tent as we had a schedule to keep and one more spot to check out.
Last top was to visit the first ever two story concession stand, Milos. A few of us practiced tossing up Pizza dough with some of the team from Milos. Our evening ended with a train ride back to the front of the fair where we parked our cars.
Overall I was very impressed with the Sacramento County Fair and how organized the media night was. I am grateful that I was invited to participate in this special media night. There is so much more to see and do this memorial day weekend, I plan to come back with my family. Prices are very affordable with adult admission is only $6 and kids 12 and under are free.
