Gluten-free at Disney Lamplight Lounge

The Lamplight Lounge is a new restaurant in Disney California Adventure Park that opened June 23 at Pixar Pier, offers table-service dining, gastro-pub cuisine, and panoramic views of Paradise Bay.  I was pleasantly surprised when I found out that have quite the menu for those whom are gluten-free.

Before ordering any gluten free food please ask for a Chef consult at Disneyland.  Disneyland menu options, ingredients, and locations are subject to change.  Please do your own research to see if this could be an option for your dietary needs by verifying with chef before consuming.

Of course Disneyland takes very good care of their guests with food allergies and dietary restrictions.  I always recommend if you have any concerns please request a consult with the chef.

At the Lamplight lounge you can make dining reservations up to 60 days in advance.  Unfortunately, I completely forgot to make reservations. By the time I remembered there was no reservations available online.  I had friends tell me not to worry, try to get in on standby.

Since my trip ended up being just me I figured I might have a good chance to dine there. On a Saturday night after 7pm I inquired about dining downstairs without a reservation. Sure enough they had no problems accommodating me.  They use the reservation by your cell phone via text. I waited less than 5 minutes for a spot at the bar.  21 and over can dine at the bar, so if you have kids with you they will not seat you there.

I saw the menu options online via the Gluten Free at Disneyland Community FB group.  I knew right away I wanted to try the Carne Asada Roll.  My service was rather fast, which was good because I don’t normally eat dinner that late.  The actual allergy menu has been redesigned since the one I saw online.  I loved seeing all the creative drawings on both sides. 

The Carne Asada roll is delicious.  It has the look of sushi but without any raw fish.  It was cooked perfectly, had a nice flavor and texture.  This dish was so filling I couldn’t even eat it all. I’m so glad I didn’t order an appetizer because there certainly isn’t a way I could have taken it to go for later.  I highly recommend this dish and visiting this restaurant.  They are awesome for those with gluten allergy.
