Disney Villain Series | Book Review | Serena Valentino

inside book

I’ll be the first to admit I’ve never been a huge fan of reading books. In school I read only when I had to for assignments but seldom did I read for pleasure. Thank goodness it’s 2019 and we have the option to listen to books via Audible. For me this is where the book comes to life via the storyteller. You know I’m a huge Disney fan, so when I came across a Villain series by Serena Valentino I knew I had to check at least the 1st book out.

Before committing to the purchase I listened to the sample, because the narrator can either make or break the story if they don’t have the right vocal tone for each character. OMG after listening to the sample read by Lucy Rayner I knew already I was in love! Lucy Rayner has a great voice for each character in each of the stories. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to her bring each character to life narrate via Audible.

Without giving away any spoilers, the plot of each story is a spin off the original classic story we all know and love. You know that saying “there are two sides to every story”? This series focuses on the background of the Villains of each story.

Each story takes unexpected twists and turns that are completely unpredictable. I sat on the edge of my seat in suspense with every chapter. It is very important to read or listen to them in order because the storyline and characters are connected and intermingle with each other. I accidentally listened to one book out of order and I kinda felt a lost the entire book.

I just finished book 5; just in time for the new release of book 6. I feel this series is best for any teen or adult Disney fan (might be too scary for the younger kids). I highly recommend the audible version even if you prefer to own the physical copy of the book. Hearing the audible version really brought the characters to life for me!
