January 2017 Starbucks released a new product called Sous Vide Egg Bites.  They come in FOUR flavors Bacon & Gruyere, Egg White and Roasted Red Pepper, Chicken Chorizo Tortilla, and Ham, Cheddar & Peppers.  You buy them in a two pack for $4.45, but it is a two pack of only one flavor.

While Starbucks isn't labeling this product as gluten free, they are labeling it as a wheat free breakfast option on their website. After some searching I found the ingredients of both of these egg bite flavors.  They don't appear to have any wheat/gluten in them but your safe bet would be to verify the ingredients for yourself.

I have tried both flavors on several different occasions now and I can say hands down my favorite is the Egg White and Red Roasted Pepper ones.  Probably because they have jack cheese in them which I personally love!  The roasted pepper isn't spicy but gives it a nice flavor.

The Bacon & Gruyere was nothing to get excited about.  I felt like it is lacking in flavor and needs more bacon than just a little slice on the top.  These egg bites are quite fluffy and very filling!  They are larger than one would think too, 1 egg bite is roughly about the size of the palm of my hand.  Two egg bites is more than enough to satisfy my hunger for breakfast or a snack.

I feel like this is a good wheat free option. While it isn't labeled gluten free I think it could be possible for those on gluten free diet to eat them.  They are warmed in their own cardboard serving dish and you can request the Starbucks employee use a new pair on tongs to put them in/out of warming oven. Of corse like with anything there could be a possibility of cross contamination from the processing factory or Starbucks store location (you decide what is best for you).  I honestly have not had a reaction and I am very sensitive to gluten.

I would definitely recommend these Sous Vide Egg Bites. Starbucks is notorious for changing up their menu often so there is no signs how long this product will stick around. I hope they keep it as a regular menu option but only time will tell depending how popular it is.

Have you tried these from Starbucks yet?  What do you think?
