Important Change to the Gluten Free Certification Symbol

Important information regarding the rebranding of the Gluten Free Certification Symbol. I did receive some gluten free samples as part of this promotion to help spread the word of the rebranding.

The Certified GF Gluten Free symbol created by the Gluten Intolerance Group (also known as GIG and GFCO) has been the symbol of trust for the gluten free community since 2005.  I have partnered with the Gluten Intolerance Group to let you know they have rebranded and the Certified Gluten Free symbol will be changing.

How do Gluten Free Products get Certified?

The gluten free mark on packaging is a symbol of trust for the gluten free community since 2005.  Not just any product can slap this mark on their packaging.  To earn this mark on your gluten free product one must go through various testing.

  • Ingredient Aynalysis
  • Training & Audits
  • Regular Testing Requirements
  • Product safely gluten free (10PPM gluten or less)

Why change all of a sudden?

While the Certified gluten free logo has been around since 2005 and is on over 60,000 gluten free products there are some gluten free products that are NOT certified through this process.  These companies have created a similar mark on their packaging that could be misleading to gluten free shoppers.  I am not saying that those products are not gluten free, they just have not gone through the extra process to be able to claim they are Certified Gluten Free.

What does this mean for me?

The new symbol has already started to show up on many gluten free products packaging.  The plan is by 2022 the NEW global mark will be on all certified gluten free products in 51 countries.  The gluten free products will continue to go through the extensive testing and quality control as mentioned above.  It will take time to get used to this change but the rebranding of the Certified Gluten Free mark is necessary to make it easier for gluten free shoppers.
